Travel Details

We will be leaving for China on August 4th, arriving in Beijing on the 5th. We will then fly on the 6th to Guilin (see link below if you are curious about Guilin), a city well known for its magnificent natural beauty. We are hoping to enjoy this time relaxing before flying to Guangdong province (to Guangzhou) to meet and receive our daughters on the 9th. We stay in Guangdong Province for about 1 week while the adoption is finalized there.

We then fly to Beijing to get our daughters' passports and visas etc, and fly back home on Aug. 23rd into Toronto.

Lots to prepare, plan and pack for this 3 week trip, not to mention that addition of 2 little girls!

The room is ready for two.

After painting the room at Christmas, the wait started to find out if there we were going to be blessed with one daughter or two. Once we found out we were having twins, it was a nice feeling being able to finish the room at last!

How nice it will be to have Eliana and Olivia in this room one day soon.

We have placed a quote above their closet that reads "Angels danced the day you were born." God knew the day, the hour, the minute our daughters breathed their first breath - all was perfectly planned!

The Chinese symbol on the wall means "family".

Welcome to our Blog!

Welcome to the Lucas blog site! Leading up to and during our adoption trip to China in August, we will try to consistently communicate to family and friends.

In February 2005 we decided to adopt from China. Ten months later on November 3rd our application was received and logged in China. At that time the expectation was that it would be another 6 months before we would be matched with a child. Well here it is 19 months later and on June 7th 2007 we received that long anticipated call (at 1:14pm) that our referral had arrived, for not just one but two precious little girls - twins!

The following are our referral pictures of our girls.
